Objective: To revise and examine the applicability of Parental Bonding Instrument within a sample of Chinese college students. Methods: A sample of 849 students completed a battery of structured questionnaires including the final Chinese Version of PBI, Adult Attamachment Questionnaire 3.1 (AAQ3.1). And factor analysis was applied to the data. Results: The final revised Mother version(PBI-M) and Father version(PBI-F) both contained 23 items, with loading between 0.503~0.782, three subscales(care, encourage autonomy, control), which could explain 46.22% and 49.28% of the total variances. The Cronbach’ s аs of the three subscales were 0.745~0.858, Guttman Split-Half Coefficients 0.661~0.844, test -retest reliabilities 0.746 ~0.941. Conclusion: The Parental Bonding Instrument for Chinese college students has satisfying validities and reliabilities and is suitable for use among Chinese undergraduates.
