Objective:The goal of this research was to assess the reliability and validity of the Self-reported Preference for Solitary Play Interview(PSPI) in Chinese preschoolers. Methods:Totally 473 preschool children(Mage=4.72 years, SD=0.57, 242 boys, 51%) were recruited from 3 public kindergartens in Shanghai. Children finished Self-reported Preference for Solitary Play Interview and peer nominations interview. Children's mothers completed Child Social Preference Scale. Six months later, the teachers completed Teacher Behavior Rating Scale and Child Behavior Scale. Results:The PSPI showed one-factor model(χ2=161.72, df=44, χ2/df=3.68, P<0.001, GFI=0.95, AGFI=0.93, CFI=0.86, IFI=0.86, RMSEA=0.07). PSPI was significantly and positively related to mother-rated unsociability(r=0.13, P<0.05), significantly and nega-tively associated with teacher-rated sociability(r=-0.13, P<0.05) and positively associated with teacher-rated asocial behav-ior(r=0.16, P<0.01). PSPI displayed good reliability(α=0.74) and test-retest reliability(α=0.78). Conclusion:PSPI has good reliability and validity in application to Chinese preschool children.
