Objective:To examine the relationship among executive function, family chaos and marital quality in Chi-nese couples and whether this relationship pattern would differ for husband and wife. Methods:A total of 305 Chinese young couples participated in this study. Executive function was assessed by BRIEF-A scale, the family chaos was assessed by CHAOS scale and the marital quality was assessed by DAS scale. Results:①Executive function was positively associat-ed with couples'marital quality and family chaos were negatively associated with couples'marital quality; ②For the wives, executive function and family chaos uniquely influence their marital quality; ③For the husbands, both the unique and the interactive effects of executive function and family chaos on the marital quality were found. In specific, compared with the husbands in high chaos families, in the low chaos families, higher levels of executive function would more strongly predict their higher marital quality. Conclusion:Both the individual factor such as executive function and the contextual factor such as family chaos are strongly associated with marital quality in Chinese couples.
