Objective: To examine the dysfunction of emotional inhibition in patients with Borderline Personality Disorder(BPD). Methods: A sample of 34 BPD patients and 27 healthy controls completed the modified Emotional Stroop task and the Event Related Potentials(ERPs) were recorded. Repeated measures ANOVA were used to analyze the differences between BPD group and control group on behavioral data(accuracy and reaction time) and ERP amplitude. Results: There were no significant group differences on behavioral data. There were significant group differences on amplitudes of P2 and Late Positive Potential(LPP). BPD patients had lower P2/LPP amplitudes than those of healthy controls. BPD patients also had lower LPP amplitude at negative condition than that at neural condition. Conclusion: Patients with BPD have dysfunction in emotional inhibition, especially for negative emotion.
