Malingering and exaggeration of intellectu al impairments are common in personal injury cases involved in litigation.T he patients usually present clinically with a history of traumatic head injury, and even with objective evidences for organic brain damage, which render it difficult to discern the possibility of malingering.In our country, there has been a lack of effective and objective strategies for the evaluation of feigned intellectual deficits.The authou reviewed the relevant literaures published in r ecent years, with particular emphasis on neuropsychological approach to assessmen t of malingering.New directions for local research in this important area were s uggested.
